Silver and Marble

Contains product sent for review

After some practice, I’ve really grown to love water decals. I didn’t find them too easy to use at first, but now that I’ve gotten good at using them, I love how quickly they can spruce up a manicure for a very little cost.

For this manicure, I used this sheet from Born Pretty Store, and I guarantee that you will see more manis with this sheet, because there are so many images, and I really love the simplicity of the images.

I messed around with making diy decals on my nail art mat and attempted doing marble nails this way, but I still think I prefer Continue reading

Holographic Foil Nails

Product sent for review

This review has kinda been in the pipeline for a long time. I received these sheets of holographic foils, which I thought looked super awesome! You get 16 different kinds of foils for under $2 – granted, the sheets are not that big, but it’s a nice option if you have trouble deciding on a design.

The reason why this has been long underway, is that the website says that you can apply it over nail polish, and it will stick just fine. I tried that, and it. did. not. work. I was prepared to give this a very negative review, but then – by chance – I saw a YouTube tutorial on how to apply foil where they used nail foil glue. Once I bought a bottle of that, I was able to get it to transfer.

Holographic foils 2

The sheets where folded in half, meaning that the transferable parts stuck together, and when I went to peel them from each other, some parts of the design didn’t come off. That was kinda annoying since that meant I couldn’t get a crisp design.

Holographic foils 1

When I actually tried out the foils, I discovered I needn’t have bothered getting annoyed about that, because it was nearly impossible to transfer the design perfectly anyway. I was left with this distressed look instead. I don’t know how I feel about that, maybe it was because I was expecting something else?

Well, doing the same design on both hands when you have 16 different to choose from was boring, so I did another one on my right hand. This stuck even more together and thus the result was even more distressed, and I don’t really like this design.

Holographic foils 3

Overall, I have mixed feelings. First, why wasn’t I informed that I needed to buy nail foil glue? It could have saved me the additional shipping time. Second, the packaging was not optimal because the sheets stuck together. Third, the transfer wasn’t as crisp as expected, but if you go into this wanting a distressed look, then you’ll like this. Fourth and final, this is under $2 so what can you really expect? This could work nicely as an accent nail, maybe?

Color Club Haul

I recently discovered that a Danish webshop sells Color Club polishes, which I’ve wanted to try for a while, but I was never prepared to pay the delivery costs for international shipping. And what was even better, was that they were having a sale! Of course, I jumped at the chance to try out a nice selection of polishes because you can never really evaluate a brand based on one or two polishes. I may have gone a little overboard, but Continue reading

Sideways Gradient and Roses

Exam season is upon me once again. Even though this is my 8th exam season since starting university, it just never gets easy or fun. Leave it to the procrastinator to leave things to the last minute when I could have started months ago -.- .. Maybe I’ll learn some day.

Anyway, summer is here (hence the procrastination and spending time outside instead of locked up with my computer). My nail art still lingers a little bit in spring in terms of color selection. Here is a soft pastel sideways gradient plus roses mani.

Polishes used:

  • H&M – Pink
  • Essie – Virgin Snow
  • Essie – Peak Show
  • China Glaze – Material Girl

NOTD: Blue Aztec

Sometimes, I want something on my nails that may be intricate – because I’m not very good at keeping things simple – but not necessarily something that screams ‘look at me!’ That’s what I tried to achieve here with the color selection. The pattern was inspired by bed sheets we sell where I work, which has an aztec print on it, and after having mailed A LOT of those recently, I took my inspiration from Continue reading

NOTD: Green + gold triangles

This mani was inspired by this post by Housewifenails which I instantly fell in love with. Hers was meant as a St. Patrick’s Day mani, and I know that was AGES ago (and technically I don’t celebrate the day), but paired with this mossy green polish, I think this is just perfect! I’m so happy I got this Picture Polish color, because I just LOVE it. Unfortunately, and I don’t know if this is also the case for you guys, but I don’t find that Picture Polish polishes has that great wear time? I know wear time has a lot to do with each individual’s body chemistry, but it’s just such a shame when really I’d love to wear this all day, everyday. Continue reading

Negative Space Heart

Have you noticed how around Valentine’s Day all nail art looks are some shade of pink? Yeah, me too. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good pink nail polish as much as the next girl, I just don’t feel like adding to the pile myself, which is why I’ve gone in another direction for a look that is definitely V-day appropriate, but not as traditional.
