As you may know, I started bullet journaling in January, but I posted it a little bit late, so it’s actually the newest post before this one….
Anyways, anyone else feeling the winter blues? I know I am, so my February theme and setup is all about bringing some brightness and happiness back into my life.
The theme is citrus fruits, and my accent color is orange, so there are more oranges than other fruits.
Last month, I had a grid style calender, but I felt it took up too much space considering how little events I have in a month. So this month, I am trying out a vertical layout instead, and so far I am really liking it! There is still room to write two or three events, birthdays, tasks etc., so I’m really liking that.
My to do list grew a bit since I filled it all out in January, and I added a table for review copies. I am lucky enough to be reviewing books regularly, so to get an overview over the books and their deadlines, I am putting them in here. That way I can see when they’re due, what my progess is on them (read, reviewed, done) etc.
My first spreads in the journal are a yearly overview where I have each month listed and I can put in any events that I have scheduled for a later date which I haven’t created spreads for yet (since you do the spreads one month at a time).
My January theme is green, and I kept it simple with the design since I am new to bullet journaling and found it all a little scary, to be honest. I also didn’t do too many spreads since I didn’t know what I would need yet, or if I could keep up with doing it.
But that’s the good thing about this – if you love something, you do it again, and if you don’t you leave it out next month.
I have a monthly overview with a grid-type calender and a to do list.
I have a mood and weather tracker with two squares for each day. The moods are color coded, and each day I have colored in a square according to my moods of the day. (Spoiler alert: I changed this for February, but stay tuned for that post)
My media spreads with books I’ve read in January and my ‘song of the day’ page. I’ve written down a song each day that I’m liking recently, and I think it’s going to be so much fun to look back on this list later on and see which songs were all the rage in January 2018.
January is almost over, and after a month of bullet journaling, I am really liking it! Maybe more the process of creating the spreads than keeping up with them, but I’ve had my hands on it every day for the entire month.
Maybe I’ll add more spreads like weekly overviews or something like that at a later point, but I don’t really have a use for them at the moment, so I’m just keeping it simple.
Part two of my package arrived a couple of days ago. I had ordered a pack of what I thought was three nail art brushes, but it turns out that I actually got 6 instead for the same prize – score!
There are three striping brushes and three detail brushes.
Yesterday I got the chance to use a striping brush for the first time as my birthday suddenly became a “Let’s all apply nail polish”-kind of evening. One of my friends had seen something in a magazine and wanted me to recreated. It was a very simple pink base colour with a white stripe down the middle.
Today my high school friends are coming to visit me! The three of them all live in Aarhus whereas I live in Odense, and two of them haven’t seen where I live yet.
We have a standing agreement that each time a Hunger Games movie comes out, we will go and see it together, and this one is no exception! It premiered on november 19th and we were considering seeing it this weekend, but I was also considering celebrating my birthday (which is november 26th), so instead of meeting up in our hometown and watch the movie, they are coming to me! I am looking very much forward to it as I haven’t seen them for so long! I saw one of them before I went to Tunisia in week 42, but the others I haven’t seen since before the summer. I am so thrilled that they are willing to make the trip to come see me!
Have you seen the movie? What will you be doing this weekend?
1. Get a head start on the Christmas shopping
It’s always nice not having to stress about it at the last minute. But be careful – being this early might mean that’s it’s easier to find gifts for yourself. NO, wallet – stay inside the purse, I don’t need all of that stuff with my birthday and Christmas coming up.
2. Watch your favorite TV show
I’m currently watching Bones with my boyfriend and Pretty Little Liars on my own. That’s how I’ll spend most of my weekend 😉
3. Put on clean bedsheets.
There’s nothing better than sliding under freshly washed and tumbled bedsheets, is there?
4. Put on a face mask and reshape your eyebrows, shave your legs etc.
Doing all of the beauty things you don’t always have time for doing the week.
5. Read a book just for fun
If you’re a student you know the feeling of always reading something relevant for school – this weekend (or at least some of it) take out the book that has stood unopened on your shelf for far too long.
This song cracks me up! I first saw the Anthology series about 4 years ago and this song still makes me smile whenever it comes on.
As the people who know me know, I am a HUGE Beatles fan! So you’ll probably see a lot of Beatles songs on here :p
At first I didn’t think too much of the anthology songs – I like the originals more. Looking back I see what a big mistake it was to skip the anthology tracks! They reveal so much vulnerability and sincerity and it makes you feel like you’re closer to the guys.
Even if you don’t like the Beatles you should give this track a listen – I’m almost positively sure that it will at least bring a smile to you face.
Which also explains my silence on the blog. This previous week has been extra busy. Tuesday and thursday evening I was recording a couple of songs with my choir. We were asked to sing three songs for a christmas album – 1 on Tuesday and 2 on thursday. I was a super cool experience! The few of us, who have participated for over 10 years, have already once recorded a song for a CD, but it was so long ago and not nearly as cool as this!
Yesterday we received the audio files for the CD and it turned out to be pretty good! So now were planning our annual christmas concert – and we’re discussing making a CD of our own as well! We have some pretty unique christmas carols from all around the world which would be cool to perpetuate.
Thursday was also the day we visited the company we are going to write an exam about. It was the company I used to work for between the ages of 14-18. For 6 hours we walked around asking people questions and observing. It was tiring, but luckily we got what we came for!
Friday was Halloween and that means party! I didn’t really feel like it, but it ended up being fun – at least the pre-party part. As last time we had a small party at our apartment before we moved on to the original party. When do you learn to just stay at the pre-party? It seems they’re always much more fun. At the pre-party we laughed and talked and played games and at the big party we ended up looking for people we knew and just walking around. We got home pretty early, but my overall memory of the evening is having a nice time.

Now you might think, I am done
But not yet. Because I didn’t even have time to relax this weekend. Long ago it was planned that this weekend would be a choir weekend. We met up around noon and we sang and ate and talked for two days straight and it was so much fun! It always is! We also made a program for our christmas concert and tried to find a date were everybody could make it – bit of a task.
Having been this busy, I desperately needed to cool down and relax, so monday I decided to take the day off uni and just sleep and do relaxing things, which did me good. Yesterday I had much more energy.
And now today I have to write a paper – lucky me
Overall the week was very good – In the future I might try to separate the events over more than just one week, because in the end you barely have any energy left.
