Surprise Saturday: Glitter and gitter

This week, I got two glitter polishes out of the three to work with for my surprise challenge. My backup plan was to alternate the polishes on the nails and call it a day, but that seemed too boring. I came up with something – it’s very simple, but it’s something more than solid colors. Continue reading

My failed blobbicure | Video tutorial

I cannot believe, how much positive attention my failed blobbicure from day 7 of 31DC2015 – Black & White Nails got.

So many people commented telling me how much they liked it and asked how I’d done it. Thank you so much for all of that positive feedback! That’s what makes blogging so much fun!

I filmed a tutorial of how I did it, hoping that I could recreate it, and it turns out, it happened every time. I then decided to see if was the choice of polish or my technique that made it happen. This “investigation” led to this video – if you only want to watch the actual tutorial, feel free to click away at 1:31.

Wedding Manicures | COLLAB

Long time, no see, eh? I’ve been away on holiday and has started my full-time summer job and haven’t really had time to blog before now..

HEY!

In today’s post I want to tell you about the new video I uploaded today – it is a collab with the lovely Claire from Claire My Life In Words. You should definitely go check out her blog if you haven’t already, she does all things beauty and life related.

Claire has created two makeup looks – I’ll have her video linked here, definitely go check it out, she provides all sorts of tips and tricks while showing off two beautiful makeup looks. Sunday night and assignments

If you’re in school like me, you know that Sundays are usually spent doing assignment or reading. I’m lucky enough to have Mondays off this semester as well, but when we have assignments due for Tuesday, which we do quite often these days, I like to do them sunday night so I don’t have to do them the last second. And to be honest, it is the best feeling ever when I see my boyfriend doing work when I’ve already done it šŸ˜‰

Here are some of the songs that are getting me through the night and the two assignments.

No. 8: Somewhere only we know – Keane/Glee

This song is so amazing! I like both the original version and the glee version because of different reasons.

I like the original because of the (somewhat boring) constant crotchets (quater notes) on the piano because, for some reason, the chord changes and the fast(er) tempo of the piano compared to the singing, gets me into a state of mind where I feel like I live in a movie and that I can do anything in the world (yes, I’m one of those people who imagine I’m a movie star sometimes).

On the other hand I also really like the Glee-version

Partly because of my kind-of-crush on Blaine and his voice (if only he wasn’t gay and fictional) and partly because I am a sucker for vocal music (multiple voices) as I’m not just a singer myself, but a choir singer. I also like how the strings are such a big part of the final product.

I also like the lyrics in general. I think they’re so adorable. The can be interpreted in different ways, both positively and negatively, but to me the song is romantic.

Which version do you like better?

No. 7: Afrika Bambaataa – Planet Rock

This is usually not my favorite style of music, but this particular song has been stuck in my head since the day before yesterday. My boyfriend and I really like to play NBA 2k15 on PS4 and by now we know ALL of the songs in the soundtrack as they play constantly. This is one of them. For many hours I didn’t even notice that I was singing it until my boyfriend started singing it. I didn’t even know what song the lines I was singing was from! If you’re anything like me, then you’ll know how annoying it is not to know such a thing, so a quick YouTube-search led us to this video.

This song reminds me of those movies from the late 80s/early 90s with white chicks in silver crop tops, silver skirts and white knee-high boots dancing (thinkĀ Kelly Bundy from Married With Children). I couldn’t find something to accurately describe it to you, but “The Routine” comes pretty close. No. 6: This Woman’s Work by Greg Laswell

I’ve gone back to listening to Spotify even though I was against it for a while because it seemed like they only had the newest, baddest pop/techno, but since they introduced their “mood”-playlists, they have actually become my go-to music player. On one of those acoustic/relaxing playlists that I have grown so fond of, I heard this song. I don’t know if it is the song or the voice that speaks to me, but I really like this song! I have yet to hear more from Greg Laswell, but I’m definitely going to!

Over and out, Nanna
